P8 The Perfect 8th or Octave is 12 half steps apart. It is recognized as the first two notes from "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz. |
Unison (P1) The Unison or Perfect Unison isn't technically an interval since it's the same note for both voices but is frequently used for voice leading and many other reasons. FYI - When two instruments or sections are playing the same notes or even the same notes an octave apart they are playing "in unison". |
